Connolly has represented CD-11 since 2009.

Connolly previously served for five years as Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. He also served nine years as the Providence District Supervisor.

Prior to his election to Congress Gerry spent twenty years in the private sector working in the information technology and government contracting industry, serving as the Vice President for Washington operations for SRI International and as Vice President for Community Relations for SAIC.
