This year legislators have stepped up and have submitted over 20 bills. They are perhaps responding to the most expensive election in Virginia history in which hundreds of thousands of dollars went directly into candidates' campaigns from wealthy individuals and corporations. Meanwhile, recent polling from the Wason Center reveals that nearly 80 percent (4 out of 5) voters in the Commonwealth, irrespective of party, support campaign finance reform. 88 percent of them want full disclosure and 75 percent support caps on contributions.
