More about your group. (Other info about your group: beliefs, activity history, how frequently you meet, talents, etc.) If you need to add paragraph breaks use this symbol <p> Our Vision and History People For the American Way Foundation was founded in 1981 by legendary television and film producer Norman Lear, the late Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, and a group of business, civic, religious, and civil rights leaders who were disturbed by the divisive rhetoric of newly politicized televangelists. Advocacy affiliate People For the American Way was founded soon after. We are dedicated to making the promise of America real for every American. Our Mission People For the American Way works to build a democratic society that implements the ideals of freedom, equality, opportunity and justice for all. We encourage civic participation, defend fundamental rights, and fight to dismantle systemic barriers to equitable opportunity. We fight against right-wing extremism and the injustice it fosters.
We are dedicated to making the promise of America real for every American.
