More about your group. (Other info about your group: beliefs, activity history, how frequently you meet, talents, etc.) If you need to add paragraph breaks use this symbol <p> Since 2016, Writing2Win has engaged like-minded people to work together and give voice to issues we cared about and supported political candidates we thought would enable change. In recent years, the media and political landscape has shifted and Writing2Win has accommodated new realities. We are still a mighty but small team of volunteers based in Northern Virginia but we are branching out to help others in different parts of Virginia who are interested in writing letters to editors (LTEs) and much longer opinion pieces known as op-eds of local digital and print media in support of Democratic candidates. Overall goal: Help Democrats get the attention they deserve by engaging people who are passionate about politics and feel comfortable writing their own LTEs, Op-Eds and guest columns about a topic about which they have very strong feelings. Since 2016, in addition to helping others, Writing2Win members have been active on social media and have written their own letters and Op-Eds that have been published in Virginia news outlets, The Washington Post, and DemCast USA. Overall focus now: to support and encourage local Virginia Democrats’ engagement with media, increase public awareness about issues, and lend communications support to local advocates. We want to help you tell the right story at the right time, fight for our Democracy, and separate truth from fiction. Writing2Win members have broad and varied communications experience. A member would be available to speak individually with a prospective writer early on in the process to talk about the topic/s individuals feel most passionate about, a couple of statistics folks might be interested in using, and any recent story by a paper or outlet which referenced or focused on some element of that particular. The Writing2Win person would be available for consultation/suggestions throughout the writing process.
